Step Out in Spring - 14th of March 2021

Spring is coming.. Read: Longer days, new birds songs’, little flowers here and there, time to change our annoying winter jackets for cozy sweaters, finally weather to sit eat and chat in the grass with friends without freezing.. Yes spring really is my favorite time of the year! Spring shows year after year again that there is always hope for better things and better times. And every year spring keeps its promise; every year again after a long cold, this time rather lonely, winter.. things start blossoming unter the sun again.

When I think about spring, I think straight of Doode Bemde. This nature park, close by Leuven has a Spring-vibe way earlier than other places... I could be influenced by wonderful visits in past Springs.. But come find out for yourselves. I want to take you along! Let’s go on a hike to celebrate spring. I promise you will enjoy it and you will find yourself returning back to this place again and again..

Practical information;

Come join us next Sunday for a beautiful spring walk in Doode bemde. The distance will be between 7 and 10 kilometers depending on the weather and the group. We will be with maximum 10 participants and we will practice social distancing.

We start hiking at 9AM and will be back at the starting point by, the latest, 11.30AM.

We meet nearby ‘The Shelter’ in Korbeek-Dijle (see google maps). Across the streat of that adventure organization there is a ‘parking lot’ and a big picknicktable. We will be meeting at that picknicktable. We spreken af in de buurt van The Shelter, in Korbeek dijle (zie google maps).

NOTE; Try to be in time. If you are running late please let me know!

How to get there?

  • Car: 12minutes from the city center of Leuven
  • Bus: bus 395, get off at the stop called 'Korbeek-Dijle Kosterberg' and walk 150m.
  • Bike: Scenic trip from 20minutes via Dijlepad, if you leave from Leuven. Would you like to cycle together? Mention it in your email and join me at 8.30 AM in the Kardinaal Mercierlaan in front of the main viewpoint of Arenberg Castle.

What to bring?

  • Comfortable shoes. These don’t need to be ‘real’ hiking shoes. Just be aware that the area can be muddy if there is a lot of rainfall in the days before the hike.
  • A bottle of water
  • A mouth mask; For when we meet at the start of the hike and for narrow paths where distancing from one another or other hikers is impossible.

This hike is free!
